I Remember You

I cannot believe it's been since May that I was last on here...One: I have to say that there is no excuse, after the fact I said I was going to keep up with this....I'm really slacking....Two: So glad to be back!  Obviously a lot has happened in the last couple of months (sorry again!) and summer went by so incredibly fast!  Where does the time seem to go as you get older?  Fall is in the air....we have had cooler weather already!  I love Fall, it's my favorite season and I can't wait!  Not to mention, I really do love shopping around this time of the year...before I know it, Christmas will be just around the corner....but...let's just stick to September for now.  I will start off September with my little brother's birthday!  I can't believe he is going to be 19!  Again...time flies!  My parents bought him a new truck for an early birthday present and he hasn't stopped bragging about it...typical teen.  He wants to get out of town for a couple of days following his birthday, so I thought maybe I could surprise him with a cruise since he's never been on one.  Trying to find a time where we can both be off work and school is kind of difficult but will be well worth it.
 I've had a busy week already and it's only Tuesday.  I will be meeting a friend tomorrow for lunch.  I haven't seen her since....since....well...I think since her wedding which happened after we graduated high school....looooong time ago...makes me feel like an old fart.  Anyway, she and her husband just found out that they were expecting their first child and she has a baby doc appointment tomorrow in the city.  We will see how it goes! Can't wait to see her!
I have a wedding to go to this weekend and planning on going home for Labor Day!  Trying not to get ahead of myself, I just need to keep my sanity till this weekend! Will keep you posted this time..lol..keep your fingers crossed!

It's a small world after all....

It really is!  I was talking to one of my co-workers about a friend of mine, when I was little, that I will never forget...Adrienne Moore...We used to be best friends in first grade and we were in the same class, we did everything together, and we read a lot!  One of my fondest memories of her was when we competed at school to see how many books we could read in one full year...she got first place and I got second...I had never forgotten her name and I even remembered she had a little brother.  We lost touch because her family moved away her 2nd grade year and we moved houses so I had to start at another school the same year.  Anyway, I came home that night and got on Facebook.  I was scrolling through friends' updates when I noticed her name and pic on my list of friends...it didn't don on me at the moment, but I clicked her pic to get a closer look at her and sure enough, I could recognize that smile anywhere.  Part of me felt like it was a mere coincidence and the other half of me felt stupid for not noticing her earlier as a friend on my list.  So I gave it a shot, I sent her a message asking if she lived in Ponca City when she was younger and if she did, that I wouldn't believe it.....she sent me back a message saying that she had and the more and more questions we asked each other...we knew who each other were.  Who would have thought after so many years!  We messaged each other back and forth about where we are in our lives and the memories that we have together when we were little.  Hopefully she comes down to Oklahoma, she said it's been about 15 or 16 yrs since she left and hasn't come back.  We are staying in touch now, thank God for Facebook!  It's just the little things in life that make this world go round and it's true, it's a small world.....

My place is feeling a little more comfortable, it's not as weird when I lay in bed at night, it's starting to feel like my home.  Has taken a while to get used to though!  I'm doing all of my house shopping next week, so I may have to preview the stores this weekend and make a list...it's Friday and we have an easy work load today!  The best way to start the weekend!  Spring cleaning is calling, time to enjoy the weather.  TGIF!

New Beginnings

Whoa, hello old friend...it feels weird being on here since it really has been a long time.  Time to get back on the bandwagon...Recent changes have taken place and I have a new apartment to prove it.  I moved closer to work and I really think I'm going to love it here.  I've met 2 of my 3 neighbors so far and they are really nice!  I have almost everything unpacked except for some school stuff here and there, pictures and other misc items.  I have so much storage, I don't know what to do with it all!  I can't believe I've been here for almost three weeks.  Right now, the dining room and living room are bare because I have yet to go buy furniture and other things to decorate with.  That's the fun part!  I was deprived of social networking for awhile and now I'm not rocking in the dark corner back and forth, I have my internet back!  I can't wait to see what this place will look like once I get my stuff in it!  I may have to re-inact a "rate my space" and take pics so I get some ideas :)  Work has been stressful lately..."True Drama in the OR"...I try to not say anything at all sometimes and just let it roll off my back, but when it's something that I'm truly passionate about, I will stand up to anyone and wear my emotions on my sleeve.  I think everyone at one point in their careers have felt that way-I'm sure more than once!  (Breathing in) In with the good, (breathing out) out with the bad...Good thing my three day weekend is here!  Much needed, although while I hear that people are going to the lake or camping, I really don't know what I'm doing yet...my body is so not ready for a bathing suit yet and I'm def. not ready for bug season...I'm meeting my parents today for lunch and I'm really looking forward to seeing them!  I'm not going home this weekend so they are meeting me halfway!  Gotta go get ready, but I'll be back soon! TGIF!

Easter and some random postings.....

Well just came back from spending the weekend in Ponca and what a rainy day to be Easter!  I hydroplaned my way back to the city and boo for not having an Easter Egg Hunt outside today.....BUT...we ended up going to church this morning and went to the later mass so I did get to sleep in a little.  My mom had been cooking for most of the morning and when we got home from church, the table was set up and the big feast had taken over the kitchen...this was my plate.  We had mashed potatoes and gravy, ham, rice/brocolli/cheese casserole (my fav) and green beans with bacon casserole.  We couldn't forget the infamous carrot cake!

 

 

After stuffing ourselves full, I gathered the kiddies in the living room for their surprise gifts...I gave them each a chocolate bunny...both nieces got Hanna Montana tin cans (they are HUGE fans) and all of them got a lot of candy! Here they are proudly displaying their goodies....

I started taking random pics of him but when I went back to look at them, I noticed Isaiah making a face....He looks like this in all of his pics..lol..I think he got scared of the big red light on my camera...

  I laugh every time I see this!  My niece noticed that I was taking pics of me and the baby, so she wanted my attention by taking pics with me....she likes to pose so here are some pics from the modeling portfolio.....

 After the long photo shoot, we opted to have the egg hunt inside since the rain hadn't let up at all....bummer....but we had a great time doing something different this year!  The weather was getting bad, so my parents were really getting anxious for me to leave..they are such worry warts!  Either that, or they wanted to get rid of me..lol...  So before I knew it, my fun had ended...leaving is the worst part for me and it seems to be getting worse..now that I see a house full of family, it's like I get lonely coming home all by myself...

On other news, I finally got a new co-worker to work on my shift...Her name is Lindsey and she's super nice!  It's going to be great having that extra help and someone to talk to!  She started last week with orientation and she officially starts tomorrow!  She's learned things pretty well and I'm sure you can see my excitement for having someone else on board! Woo-hoo

Well I'm off to catch some zzzzz's while I still can...(before my insomnia kicks in..lol..)....and be ready for work tomorrow...blah...the start of the week........hopefully it will fly by!  Happy Easter and let's not forget the real reason for this holiday...Christ has risen! 

Down to the skivies....

Washer down! It finally bit the dust after a several months..My roomie and I bought it used actually and it worked great for a while..till now.  I guess it was time to upgrade and we have been without it for about 4 days...thank god I'm an avid shopper for undies and socks! Can't have too many of those!  My roomie started looking for a new one as soon as our old one broke and she found one at Sears.  We were supposed to have it delivered on Sunday in the morning.  We were both going to be gone all day because I was judging a pageant that was two hours away.  We called the driver who said he was on his way to deliver our new washer and we told him that our manager was going to let him in.  We get a call from our manager after 12:30 saying that the guy had not showed up yet...so I..being a little upset, called the driver 6 times and left him a message twice and not once did he EVER return my call.  I was heated after calling him soo many times and what was worse was when we called Sears later that evening, they said their driver told them that we didn't want it delivered!! LIAR!! So you can imagine my dismay and disbelief.....We cancelled our order and had time to go to Best Buy yesterday.  We found the perfect one and they told us they could deliver it today...Guess what?! No washer yet...My roomie called the store this morning and the manager said that the drivers were way out in a different part of town and could not make it to our house in time to deliver....We have delivery first thing tomorrow morning..we also got a Best Buy card from them worth 50 bucks!..I guess not bad for an apology... :)  ....Hopefully no more days of getting down to the nitty gritty or even worse..turning anything inside out...LOL....

Work was kind of fun today...it was National Anesthesia Technician day and they bought us pizza and a cake from the Cheesecake Factory that was super delisiouso!  I am tired though and being a freaking insomniac doesn't help.  It's 2:30 in the morning and I know I will be dragging tomorrow if I don't go to bed now.  Night.......

Over the hump and it's downhill from here......

Well the week is SLOWLY coming to an end....I just got done with my judge intro/bio thing.  I told a friend I would help her out by judging the Miss Seiling Pageant in Seiling, Oklahoma since they couldn't find anyone to do it and it's this Saturday night.  I'm actually kinda excited about it since it's my first pageant where I get to critique hahahahah (evil laugh)....jk......I didn't know Seiling was 2 hours away and with this snow/rain storm this weekend, I don't know how the roads will be..They could end up cancelling it?.....

Today was my day off and I ended up sleeping in a little bit...I must have been sleeping like a rock because I didn't even hear my roomie leave for the eye doctor this morning...She says that I've been snoring like a bear too which I'm really not aware of that either but worries me some....snoring is linked to health related issues such as strokes and diabetes.  I'm hoping that I'm snoring because I'm really really tired and not because I'm an overweight two ton tussy that is a walking heart attack waiting to happen........

My roomie and I plan on going for an early dinner soon and when we get back...it's cleaning time!  Spring cleaning is in the air and because we have been so busy with work, we have been slobs this week.....but no more! I also plan on catching up on my Grey's Anatomy since I haven't seen the last 2 episodes...I'm slacking but thank god for TiVo  :)  Laundry could go at the top of my list, I'm just glad I don't have to pick out an outfit every day for work...scrubs are a godsend too...sometimes.  It's my sister-in-law's birthday today so I have to call her.....by the time I get finished doing all of this on my day off, it will be ready to snuggle into bed and think about work tomorrow.  At least it's Pay Day...Woo-hoo!   

Winding down.....

Just got back from Ponca not too long ago and winding down after a great cookout at the 'rents place..I have to unbutton my pants for this one..you know when your full when..........I got to see my adorable niece and nephew (I will post pics later, too lazy to do it now)...which was long over-do..My nephew is teething right now so he was a little grumpy..they got him some teething buscuits and they look just like dog buscuits which was funny because I had never seen them shaped like a doggie treat before...and my niece...well she is a character of her own..she wants to do everything I do and so interested when I put makeup on.  Can't wait to see them again soon! 

Speaking of babies, my friend Krysta had her baby Thursday morning.  I got off work at 12:30 am the night before so I was dragging..but as soon as I saw baby Michael, he just put a smile on my face! He's sooo cute and beautiful and my prayers and congrats again go to Krys and her amazing family!  She got home Saturday so I can't wait to pay them a visit as well! 

I ended up getting a new phone the day my roomie's parents left.  It was a tough goodbye for her so I told her we could maybe look at a phone for her too...my old phone was acting up and when I called the store they said I had a full upgrade and that I could get the phone of my choice.  This was a difficult decision not knowing my phone had turned into a piece of crap and I had no choice but to get another one.  I scimmed the line of fat, thin, internet browsers for this, smartphones that have applications for that....really? Now all they need is make a phone that can wipe your butt and you have everything you need...seriously...I finally opted for a Blackberry Pearl since they just look so.....pretty.....just sitting there.  I have actually wanted one for a while but I didn't think I needed all the "extra" stuff.  Ever since I've had it, I've discovered something new every day.  I have a week to return it, although I seem pretty content with it right now...My roomie opted for a phone way more expensive and it reminds me of the iPhone...Comes to figure out, I use a lot of the "extra" stuff on it anyway so we'll see how it goes!

After a short weekend always comes the Manic Mondays....If I remember correctly, we had a lot of cases for tomorrow = long day = long week = thinking about a new job?!....holy moly.... 

Pooped out in 3..2...1...

Yesterday my mom was in town for a doctor's appt at the hospital and she wanted me to meet her for lunch.  We ate at Chelino's in Bricktown...love their enchilada's...(btw, notice how almost every blog I talk about food?..I'm such a pig.....well there is more to come)....anyway...we talked about everything and it seemed like time went way to fast.  I miss having my mom around to talk to her about things...I've actually felt really homesick the last couple of months...and trust me, that rarely happens with me.  I've been very independent, always liked my freedom away from my parents, and wanted to be far away from them...but I've noticed something...something changes within us and it seems like we look for more of their guidance, more of their wisdom, more of the words that they said to us when we were younger but never understood until now that we get older....it's like one day "ooohhhh, THAT'S what they were talking about"...I've sometimes wondered what it would be like to move in back with my parents...I think I would have it pretty good....homemade meals, no bills to pay, I'm the only girl so I would be spoiled (not that I'm bragging about that)..but it does have its perks...then, I think about what I would be giving up...not as much freedom, the "as long as you live under my roof" talk, and I'm sure there would be other restrictions at home....maybe I should think about this a little bit longer......

Today was the first day I got to see my roomates parents after their arrival and we met at their hotel  at 8am for my favorite meal of the day : BREAKFAST  ...(again, talking about food).....we are talking about pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits galore...you name it they had it....after we felt like you had to roll us out of there, we stopped by Kohl's for their One Day Sale.  They had great bargains and we left their with several shopping bags.  Our next stop was TJMaxx.  I bought a sugar cookie smelling candle that was fabulous! It smells delicious and it even has the different colored sprinkles on the top of the candle..can't wait to use it!  After shopping, it was time to stuff our faces again for lunch and we ended up going to Cheddar's.  It was a first time experience for all of us eating here and I have to say it was incredible and their prices are one more reason to smile..it was so cheap but way good and I definitely recommend it!  After eating, we parted ways and my rommie and I came home.  I ended up taking an hour nap before I went to work and thank god I did because I was sooo beat.  As I sit here and type after 8 exhausting hours of being on my feet, my eyes keep glazing over and I feel like I have 10 lbs of weight over my eyelids.  I guess I should go to bed....nobody better wake me..I'm sleeping in...which means no breakfast.....night....

Update: Part Deux

 Ok so I promised myself I would keep up with this blog and I wouldn't let my thoughts go to waste...

It's been a great weekend so far....My roomate and I have been cleaning because we are expecting her parents for a week long visit from PA.  We always have fun when they're around..never a dull moment with the Edwards'..and did I mention they are the sweetest most amazing people ever?!   I still have to do my side of the laundry and get groceries tomorrow before they get here but it is almost spic and span...

Speaking of guests...my oldest brother from  Las Vegas came down with his wife and kids to live back in Ponca with my parents.  I guess they weren't making ends meet (everything is expensive there anyway) and they grew tired of the hustle and bustle of the city.  When I talked to my mom today, she sounded tired and stressed..Hopefully they can get settled in and find a house that they like.  I have yet to see them but maybe I can find a weekend where I can go home and enjoy their company soon...This is my brother's little girl, Yesenia.  Funny, I have this picture at work on my locker and people assume she's my daughter because they say she looks like me..

He also has a baby boy, Isaih, who was just 8 weeks old when we visited them for xmas.  I'm going to have to post a picture of him...now that I have my new camera, Aunt Melissa is getting buck wild! 

Even though it was a really hard decision, I finally decided that I would wait on moving out until the beginning of July...I'm crossing my fingers...After really thinking things through and putting my finances in order, it was clear to me that I wouldn't be able to afford this place right now.  It was my dream apartment and I was so looking forward to calling it mine...I just had to let it go....I called the lady back the next day and told her that if it was 4 months from now and if I had money saved up that it wouldn't be a problem...fortunetely she said that one of the couples who lived in one of those apartments might be out in June because they are looking for a house and to check back in with her then.  I think God will answer my prayer.  I will have to save up though for the next coming months and if its meant to happen, then I have to keep reminding myself that it will.  Pray for me please!

Some people may not know this about me but, I love to read.  I don't get the time like I wish I could have but I've been pretty good about reading for at least 15 min before I go to bed.  Right now, I'm reading 90 Minutes in Heaven.  It's a New York Times Bestseller and it's a true story.  I don't want to ruin the story by telling you what it's about.  Just check it out and see what you think.  I haven't put it down since I started reading it...my next book to read....the MCAT...blah.

Open your mouth and say "Ahhhh"

What a week!... ...Krysta and I finally got the chance to eat lunch Monday.  We went to one of my favorite restaurants - Charleston's.  We got cheese dip/nachos and we both ordered potato soup..*yummy*..and I even got a birthday present.  The blue bag I was going to get at the Gap!  I love my friends, they are so attentive!  Anyway we ate, laughed, drank about 15 pink lemonades and before I knew it, time had flown by and it was time to say our goodbyes....Wub u Krysta!.....So I had plenty of time to get to work and change, clock in, etc,etc....As soon as I started my shift, I noticed I was feeling really full and my stomach started hurting just a little bit...I started feeling miserable with every passing hour...at about dinnertime, I didn't even feel hungry and the "full" feeling started to turn into "sick" feeling....just like that, I got a massive headache, I threw up my lunch, felt weak and VERY sleepy, even started to have chills and other bodily functions that I will keep out for your sake....it felt like I had been hit by a train.....there were people saying that other co-workers were sick with this and that and possibly the "infection" was going around..."great" I thought just what I needed.  I had been up to date with all of my shots including the flu shot, had not even been sick this year at all, and here I was ready to fall over and die in one of the bathroom stalls..  I ended up leaving 20 min early because I couldn't bear to stay there any longer....I don't know how I got home but I had made it in and crashed in bed....By the next morning I had called into work.  I didn't feel up-to-par and I stayed in bed all day throwing up and feeling like crap.....By Wednesday, I still feel pretty bad so I called into work again.  By this point I'm starving because I haven't eaten a solid meal and being sick just puts me in a bad mood....So dejavu all over again. Today I woke up feeling a little better and I decided to go to the doctor anyway (mom's idea)...I get there and several people were waiting in front of me so I had to wait for about 15 min to go back.  Finally they call my name and the nurse asks me my symptoms...I tell her and she says someone will come in to draw blood.  10 min later, a nurse comes in and swabs the inside of my nose - awkward - and tries to check a good vein.  She opts to go to the middle vein located inside my arm.  No one has ever attempted that one in both my arms because they tend to disappear.  I have really good outer veins on both arms and they always get poked.  Well the nurse, after being told this, still wants to go for the middle vein.  So she pokes me once and draws it in a little bit more....and then I hear her say "hmm"...."the little sucker disappeared"...I guess by this point I was smiling a triumphant smile but not happy at the fact that she would poke me again and the outer veins hurt way more.  She poked me again, drew her blood, and out the door she went....10 min later, the first nurse that saw me comes in with my lab results.  She says that I have a viral infection and that I can only have clear liquids today and start on the BRAT diet tomorrow. (B-bananas, R-rice, A-applesauce, T-toast)...She also gave me a prescription for nausea and told me to take it easy.  I finally got out of there at around noon and driving by Taco Bell, Sonic, and McDonalds didn't help....*sigh*......Other than that, I feel well enough to go to work.  Even though I wash my hands like crazy, everyone should remember to do the same..it prevents the infection from being spread!  T.G.I.F tomorrow!
